Still life
STILL LIFE is about ATTENTION, about an attention that presupposes a presence and a sense perception . It is about a sensation experienced through grief. Grief stops time, it creates a zero point from which the world can be seen again. Through long-term attention to stationary objects, I sense how light changes in space, my gaze on objects wanders, and I discover new properties in the subject. My attention transforms them. Still life can include what WAS in what IS. The bottle the light shone on a minute ago is not the same as the light is shining on now, but the picture can hold them both. The image can preserve the memory.
